CHEESELAND TRIUMPHS
Cedric Foster Tim Schwoerer
Basketball was little more than a mere afterthought to Cedric Foster as late as his varsity years in high school. He never played organized basketball and didn’t really try to. The streets were calling his name and he was answering. Then something funny began to happen. First with his body and then with his mind. Both began to develop and expand. At simultaneous times, physically and mentally he knew the moment in time was to now answer to different callings. Education took to the forefront, and a passion to enter college became overwhelming. The streets can take away and give right back, just that fast. Cedric was intelligent enough to know it was time to depart these cruel and uncaring south side streets , streets that mercilessly took the life of a brother. Responsibility, maturity, and brave risk taking kicked in, and after a few missteps that did not deter him Cedric found the warm and cozy corner of (University of Wisconsin) Sheboygan WI. to attend school and play basketball. A once undersized body frame developed fast , settling in at a firm 6’2 and 205lbs. Now sporting a school uniform for the first time, this sophomore G/F is starting for the Wombats. Showing strength, agility, and athleticism, Cedric is making his mark here and is a co-captain. Tim Schwoerer is the other co-captain and Cedric’s closest friend. Easily the teams comedic heart and soul, Tim shows a dead eye ability from any spot on the offensive end and is a fearless and penetrating ball handler. Recently we visited them for their season opener at their UW-Sheboygan campus, about an hour north of Milwaukee on the shores of Lake Michigan.

JIMMY SANDERS FRANKLIN PARK TOURNAMENT
At left is standout player Cordarryl Smith with a power slam. At right is class of '96 Westinghouse star Jimmy Sanders. Before Mr. Rose, Jimmy, along with Sean Dockery and Dee Brown were the stars of our website in its infancy back in the mid and late 90's. Jimmy will be an assistant coach at Collins next season and is currently holding his highly successful Freethrow Classic Tournament at Franklin Park on the west side. Tons of guys , especially from the 'old' Westinghouse days are playing and still at peak levels. Tony Bennett, JaMarcus Ellis and Curt Franklin are among the many. Why Sanders does not suit up is a mystery to us! Also a nightly spectator is Sherron Collins!

COACH MICHAEL LANG RESIGNS FROM EAST-WEST
A friend and supporter of this website for many years, we wish nothing but success for a very determined, passionate, and capable head coach in Michael Lang. Land resigned after 7 years of coaching at downtown Chicago's East-West University. Where he will land we do not know but we do know this---his next program will be lucky to have him. In his own words as transcribed to his writer, here is how he feels about his tenure at East-West and how it effected him.
